How do you stay motivated with your blogging?
I recently asked some of my clients what their biggest marketing challenge was, and the most popular problem was staying motivated with certain strategies when they don’t appear to be working. The most common example of this was content creation through a blog.
So how do you stay motivated with your blogging?
Firstly, you have to understand why you are doing something? The reason we focus heavily on blogs and content creation is that you are providing your customers with added value. That added value proves your expertise. This in turn builds trust and builds the relationship, so when the time comes – you are the one they think of when they need assistance.
You also need to track results. With a blog, you need to track shares, views, comments – and how these vary depending on title, topic, time of publish and where you published them. If your posts aren’t performing the way you’d like – it might be time to test some new strategies. It’s also important that you don’t focus solely on content creation.
Another thing you can do is try adding a call to action at the bottom of the more popular posts and see if that starts increasing your conversions. You want to make sure that the majority of your posts are there to provide value and to show that you 'know your stuff'. Occasionally, it's ok to add a sales aspect.
Blogging is part of the value add you provide customers (and for that reason it’s vital), however, you need to ensure you have tactics in place to drive sales!
At the end of the day, blogging is just one strategy and it needs to be part of your bigger marketing plan. Perhaps you can utilise a social media campaign to further promote your business, or try your hand at attending network events for that more personal touch, or perhaps you develop a killer email marketing strategy. The more marketing strategies you can utilise (and utilise well) the better off your business will be.
