What Terrifies You?
Today I spent the afternoon teaching my Dad how to work his new Twitter account for his business BlueCanDo (go check it out if you ever need trade show displays or signage!!) But this process got me thinking because, although he is an incredibly talented business man, social media is not his forte and it's all slightly overwhelming - however, for the sake of his business he is doing something that scares him!
When it comes to marketing and business - whether you are a one man band or a multi-national corporation - how many times do we refrain from doing something just because it is 'scary' or 'unknown'? How often do we lag behind and miss opportunities because we were too self-conscious to give it a go?
I will be honest with you, building Bright Red Marketing has been one of the most challenging undertakings of my life - but at the end of the day I love every minute of it. Most people will tell a 19 year old straight out of uni that getting into business for yourself is a ridiculous idea... I did it anyway. So I'm here today to say try it, do it, embrace the unknown. Whether that is launching a new business, learning a new social media platform, or starting a video series - go do it!
They say those who succeed in business are not those who never fail, but those who fail hard and fast, and recover quickly!
My challenge for myself and for Bright Red Marketing is to start a video program to further help you on your marketing journey - yes it scares me, I'm not a fan of seeing myself on film. But I want to do it anyway! What is your challenge for yourself, for this week? or for this month? I'd love to hear it and maybe we can help keep each other accountable!
My name is Dahna and I'm the founder of Bright Red Marketing. I live and breathe marketing, I can't see an advertisement without analysing it, or pass by a Marketing Book without reading it. Most of all I love helping businesses with their marketing and I love to chat.
I'd love to hear from you, contact me here:
I am so grateful to have amazing clients that were happy to be flexible and patient, knowing that there was very little I could do in the present moment to rectify the situation. And for that I say thank you to all of those clients who happily rescheduled and were patient while their launches and campaigns were delayed.
So, my word of warning and my advice - when you're building your business that is focused on client contact make sure you are working with amazing people.
A lot of people have a fear of their marketing being "salesy" and they don't want to appear like the used car salesman.
Everyone wants to know who to market their business without being "salesy" and I get this question a lot, and to be honest - I can answer it in two words, 'add value'.
If you could add something to your business, that is guaranteed to make you money, and won't cost you a cent, would you do it?
Of course you would.
So why do I see so many businesses failing to take advantage of this one little thing
If you read yesterday's blog post you would have seen me talk about providing enough value.
Now, I'm not talking about packaging your products with a list of over-priced bonuses to sell you $25,000 worth of product for $199. That's not it.
I mean - are you providing enough value to your clients.
Are you feeling lost in your business, you've been working hard - possibly for years, and you're just not going anywhere?
I'm going to be completely honest. This was me. I recently celebrated by six year biz-anniversary and was no better off than when I started. Two months after my epiphany and my business is set to quadruple this month and quadruple again the following.
In today's modern age, many businesses run solely from a mobile device...
BUT, have you thought about how this might be damaging to your business?
